Sixth Graders have been using the rock cycle and fossils as inspiration for their three latest art projects. Craftsmanship and accuracy have been emphasized in all three projects. Students have discussed the importance of craftsmanship and accuracy in many careers and worked on developing these skills in three different art materials. Fifth graders used the design process to apply what they learned about simple machines. They were challenged to use at least four different simple machines to design a Rube Goldberg inspired cartoon. They practiced the skill giving and receiving feedback to improve their designs. They also learned about the importance of using excellent craftsmanship to create artwork that communicates their ideas clearly. Below are some fun and fabulous examples of their work.
