Sixth graders were Inspired by the Chinese dragon which is a composite of real animals:
The body of a snake, scales of a carp, tail of a whale, face of a camel, claws of an eagle, feet of a tiger, and the eyes of a lobster. Chinese dragons are occasionally depicted with bat-like wings. They created their own Michigan dragons, composed of animals found in Michigan. They designed these animals to survive in a Michigan ecosystem. Paying homage to the artist Beauvais Lyons, who creates artwork around mock academia, the students created mock National Geographic articles describing how their dragons were discovered.
